About

AfrobeatRadio (ar) is a community-based, interactive, political & social, art & entertainment and academic & professional life-driven Internet-broadcast News platform created to give YOU an easy way to share YOUR THOUGHTS about issues affecting you, your local community and all of us globally. Our approach emphasizes linking remote local communities, rather that creating huge virtual communities that the global social networks normally provide. We support peoples of Africa, the global African Diaspora, and their friends, to protect our basic human rights.

YOU can create your personal- or a community-blog site and host it for free on AfrobeatRadio.net under the ar community label or create a custom domain name (such as UniqueName.com). You can broadcast your multimedia directly from the ar server or simply share it by linking to your files stored anywhere outside.

AfrobeatRadio is also intended to be a meeting point for radio, television and multi-media content producers. We take inspiration from the whole of the African Diaspora to presenting YOUR VOICE, however small, concerning News & Current Events, Politics & Civil Society, Arts & Creativity, Professional & Scholarly Works, Local & Global Community that affect YOUR LIFE. The African wisdom stating that “until the lions find their own historians (storytellers), the tales of the hunt will always glorify the hunter” will apply unless YOUR VOICE is raised and accounted for.

ar on WBAI 99.5 FM New York City (NYC) PACIFICA Radio

ar produces a radio program on WBAI 99.5 FM PACIFICA Radio. The program provides unique perspectives and access points to reflect, present and celebrate the diversity of African life in communities throughout New York Tri-State (New York, New Jersey York and Connecticut) while providing tools for YOUR inclusion and participation through afrobeatradio.net. AfrobeatRadio broadcasts on alternating Saturdays from 2:30 to 4:00pm on WBAI 99.5 FM Radio New York and streams live and is archived @ AfrobeatRadio.NET and on WBAI.ORG. Even if you are located in a remote part of the World your voice can directly reach millions of people in other parts of the world.

By emphasizing communal aspect of cooperation we hope to help fulfill Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah’s words: “It is in our hands to join our strength, taking sustenance from our diversity, honoring our rich and varied traditions and culture but acting together for the protection and benefit of us all.”

We ask YOU to tell one; to teach one; to reach one to benefit us all.
