Jonathan Sworn in as Acting President of Nigeria
There are indications emerging from Nigeria that Vice President Goodluck Jonathan may have been sworn in earlier today February 9th, 2010 as Acting President of Nigeria.
Both houses of Nigeria’s National Assembly have recently approved motions that he should execute the office of Presidency as Acting President.
Legal challenges to this development are anticipated but Jonathan has accumulated increasing political support from both the governors and law makers in a bid to resolve the political impasse in Nigeria.
State governors decided last week to back Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan to become acting president and lobbied the assembly to do same.
However, Senate President David Mark made it clear earlier on that the power transfer is temporary and the President may return by expressing in writing that he is capable of assuming his duties. AfrobeatRadio will keep you updated.
